Blame it on the sunshine

Ok, so getting back to reality was a bit challenging this week. Hey, blame it on FL.

Well Madonna is blaming it on Rio on the cover of W this month. One word: FIERCE. I haven't picked up a copy yet but judging by the cover I can tell by the pictures and articles are going to be juicy....

2009 Oscars: SJP Style

Sarah Jessica Parker stole my heart this past Sunday at the Oscars wearing this Dior Haute Couture gown. I love the way she takes risks and makes statements all while keeping it classy.

These shoes are BANANAS

I'm drooling over these swarovski crystal C. Louboutin heels!
Spotted @ Barbie's 50th Birthday show.

Inside the Tent

I finally made my way to the tent, let's just say this season the theme is recession chic.

I'm kidding! - well, to an extent. The theme is really Barbie's 50th Birthday. However, the tent is usually is a fashionista's candy land with products and goodie bags being thrown at you left and right. Nope, not this time.

None the less it's still just as exciting and glamorous...

(each letter made up of Barbies)

The Birthday Girl - Barbie

Barbie turns 50 at Fashion Week

Happy Birthday to our gal Barbie! The theme at the tent is Barbie's 50th birthday. On Valentine's Day (Saturday), Barbie kicked off her year long celebration with a runway show at Bryant Park. Over 50 designers created looks for the show such as Calvin Klein, Diane Von Furstenburg, Juciy Couture.

The designs will be on display at Bloomingdale's flagship store on 59th Street until March 12th.

Fashion Week Fall '09 Opening Day

Today kicks off Fall/Winter '09 Fashion Week! Unfortunately, I will not be able to make my way to the tent until Monday. I am heading to Massachusetts for a family gathering. Before I leave I want to share the skinny on what's going to be going on.

The Mercedes Benz Lounge is for celebrities & VIP to chill out and get away from the flashing bulbs. Here is a sneak peek of the layout. Loving the color scheme...

Lily Pulitzer had a handful Jeep Cherokees custom-made in her signature prints, so her stylists and employees can cruise around town in these from show to show. Pretty creative if you ask me, however I know my roommate who use to work for Lily is cringing. The Jeep look great in the photo near a Palm tree, but I am wondering how it will look in the city in the dead of winter...

Fashionable yet practical

I died.

I recently came across Oscar Giovanni's scarf collection. Adri waltzed into my apartment last weekend wearing one of these magnificent custom-designed scarves. Giovanni allows you to design your own scarf. You choose the color, button style and the option of fringe or without fringe. They are a steal at $39.99.

Feeling a bit bored with my winter wardrobe, I think one (or two) of these scarves could be the pick me up I need.

Spring '09 Wish List

I love it...I want it...I must have one.

Diane Von Furstenberg's hairpieces at her Spring 2009 show totally caught my eye. Every time I watch the opening of The City I fall in love with clip of the girls strutting their stuff on the runway with these headbands. I am currently obsessed with find a replica of these headpieces.

p.s. Can you tell I am looking forward to spring?

Channeling: EDIE SEDGWICK

Over the weekend I watched Factory Girl. Sienna Miller does a fabulous job of portraying Edie Sedgwick. I paid very close attention to Edie's style. It's fun, playful & edgy. I love how she rocks the huge chandelier earrings.

I searched Forever 21 and Target for cheap finds to imitate her style...

Merona Chandelier Filligree Earrings $9.99

Mernoa Chandelier Filligree Drop Earrings $8.99

Brushed Metal Oval Earrings $3.80

Book Review: Confessions of a Beauty Editor

As I laid around my apartment last week over coming a nasty cold and virus, I finished reading through Linda Well's Confessions of a Beauty Editor. Verdict: LOVE it. This book is almost the size of a coffee table book and can be a great reference guide to everything & anything in the beauty industry. I liked reading about Well's personal experiences in the beauty industry as well. The photos are capturing and addresses everything from your head to your toes.

Is Lipstick Jungle DUNZO?

Rumor has it Lipstick Jungle has been canceled. NBC has not officially announced it's cancellation but it looks like it could be happening. Ugggh, say it isn't so! I heart Lipstick Jungle for it's fashion inspiration. It inspires women across the board in their 20's, 30's & 40's. Also because it takes place in my backyard. I think most NYC ladies can relate to either Victory, Nico or Wendy's life in the Big Apple.

Ok, enough of me whining...

I want to dedicate today's post to the fantastic style of Lipstick Jungle. Victory, the late 20-something year old fashion designer, is the character I related to the most. Everything she wore on the show I could picture in my closet. I love this dress & the bangles combo she is rockin'. Too bad the dress is unknown and bangles are $500 a piece as reported by FabSugar.

Victory's apartment is my dream apartment - a townhouse downtown. Bandelle blog scoped out the interior design of her apartment and how you can create it on a cheaper budget.

Nico's stylish office ensembles always were well put together. Since Sasha Obama's pink & orange debut at the Inauguration, I have been dieing to figure out how I myself could rock it. Well I came across this recipe on stylebakery.com - perfect & age appropriate.

Or maybe I loved the show because in almost every episode they were eating cupcakes (you know how much I love cupcakes!). Lipstick Jungle, if you are canceled, you will be missed.
