The Ultimate Youth

I received a complimentary facial from Estee Lauder at the Bloomingdale's in Soho (thanks to Billion Dollar Babes). They used the new Re-Nutriv Ultimate Youth Creme and let me tell you my skin was baby's bottom soft after.

Estee Lauder says...
This revolutionary moisturizer helps prolong your skin's youthful appearance. Use it faithfully and your skin will look smoother, more even-toned and breathtakingly radiant. Indefinitely.

Well, let's just say this creme is not cheap...$250 a jar! Thank god I received a 14-day sample jar of the creme to take home. After our facials Sarah and I received a make-up application by our facialist, Amanda. I must say I am impressed with their foundation. It feels so light, unlike my MAC foundation. Hmm, I might just have to convert.

Top Design

Ok, so I am little late hopping on the Bravo's Top Design bandwagon. I happen to catch an episode this weekend. Love it, love it, love it! Ohhhh, if I had an unlimited budget I would hire some of them in a minute to decorate my apartment. I really like the Hollywood Glamorous feel that Andrea (minus the 1980 shell vase) did before she left the show crying.

Also, loved Preston's modern chic living room...

As October comes to an end, it means that I won't be focusing my posts on interior design. I have come to the realization that decorating my apartment to my high standards is going to take longer than a month. Shoot, I'm not going anywhere soon - thanks to rent-controlled!

Adventures at Mood

Tim Gunn would have been proud of me this past weekend. I headed to Mood Fabrics and "made it work". I found the fabric I want to use on my pillows in my living room! Mood has a whole floor dedicated to upholstery fabrics. The vintage couch above makes me what to get find a vintage chair for my room and re-upholster it with fabric from Mood. Anyways, here is the fabric for my pillows...

And some other fun fabrics I adored...

Look, Mood Fabric has their very own Inspiration Board!
Have you started yours?

Knock, knock

I came across some fabulous door knobs at Anthropologie in the home department. I choose to go with the Tea House Doorknob for my bedroom door. Anthropologie has lots of fun decor, especially if you want that vintage feel.

They also have a massive amount of knobs for your dresser drawers. I bought some for my closet door. Oh, the little things that make a HUGE difference!

Weekend Project: Start Inspiration Board

Looking forward to a low-key weekend, I am giving myself a project: to create an Inspiration Board. My friend, Marilyn, was visiting last weekend and she gave me the idea of creating an Inspiration Board. She said she read about it in The Secret. I love the idea because I feel I am at the point in my life where I can make my dreams a reality & I hope you feel the same. I just need some um, INSPIRATION!

Your probably wondering what the hell is an Inspiration Board, huh? An Inspiration Board is just like the collages you did as a child, but with a grown-up twist. I googled some to get ideas. Lots of people use Inspiration Boards for planning weddings, parties, decorating a room or just a place to put inspiring objects. I plan on using mine as a general "life inspiring" board touching upon all aspects of my life.

Here are some Inspiration Boards I came across...

Maybe I'll share mine with you once it's complete!
Wishing you a fabulous weekend, xo

Closet Decor

How many of us neglect the inside of our closets?

I'll admit I have until I read in Domino a fun way to spice up your closet - just add paint or wallpaper! I decided I am going to wallpaper my closet in a brocade print. I absolutely love brocade print. I looked on Brocade Home for ideas. I found the following samples...

Natural wonders in the concrete jungle

I received the latest of issue of New York yesterday and guess what was on the cover? Home Design: The Country in the City. How funny since I am focusing on design this month (mostly interior). I thought you might like to see these natural wonders...

Target Community Garden in Brookyln

West Village Walkway

A little taste of California on 5th Avenue

Harlem Rooftop Terrace

Who needs that weekend country house when you have these gorgeous landscapes right in your neighborhood (or on your rooftop).

Need an instant room pick-me-up? Think flowers!

My apartment is still feeling a little bare, even after my Ikea run. I need to spice it up in my new digs - think flowers! The great thing about the city is you can get fresh flowers of all types at any corner for decent a price.

I think on my way home from work today I am going to stop at the corner deli and pick some up. Fresh flowers (or fake) are an easy and cheap way to liven up any room.

Picture these roses on my nightstand.
The thought of it makes me smile.

Table Top Decor

My favorite part about decorating is the little details and accessories. Rosanna, Inc. has the cutest table top decor. I am loving the Boho, Haute Holiday, La Soiree and Kings Road collections pictured above.

Interior daydreaming...

I came across Cynthia Rowley's Manhattan townhouse in this month's issue of Elle DECOR. In the words of Rachel Zoe, "I DIED"

Let's just say in 10 years, this is where I would like to see myself...

It's all about the accents

This weekend I hosted a painting party at my apartment. We finished painting the kitchen, hallway and bathroom. A BIG 'Thank You' to everyone who came and helped!! Now that the major stuff is done, it's time for the accents.

I am going to start with my living room. I am looking for accent pillows. We're thinking of doing red as the accent color. Our living room set came with these hideous pillows. So I am on a search for fabric to cover them up. I paid a visit to Purl Soho and Fabric.com. I have some ideas of what I am looking for. Here are a few I came across that are almost what I am looking for...

...the search continues.
I think I am going to have to make like Project Runway & head to MOOD Fabrics.

Apartment Therapy

I am in need of some serious apartment therapy! I moved into a lovely, spacious, rent-controlled apartment this summer. The only downside of having so much space to work with is making use of it all. Every other apartment I have lived in I usually had too much stuff and had to get rid of things. Now I am in this huge apartment and have nothing but the basics - isn't that ironic?

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining at all. I love interior decorating. So I decided I would focus on interior design for this month. I have been checking out the following blogs for inspiration

+ Elements of Style
+ Beach Bungalow8
+ Apartment Therapy New York
+ Pretty Little Things
+ Decor8

Now, where to start? Hmm...
