The New "IT" Polo

Move over Lacoste, Salmon Cove is taking over the polo scene. The Salmon Cove polo was created by two professional hockey players who decided to take the "popped collar" look to another level. I had the pleasure of meeting the fellas at Shecky's Girls' Night Out. Low and behold, the next day I spotted a girl wearing a Salmon Cove polo on the crosstown bus.

We all know how ridiculous it looks when you pop a regular sized collar. MEMO: For those who are still doing it...please STOP. The
Salmon Cove polo's collar is half the size, therefore you get the popped collar look without even trying. GENIUS! I really like the look of this polo. As much as I am a fan of Lacoste, their polo's can be a bit dull looking. Salmon Cove adds a type of chicness to the polo look. The best part is the polo's are top notch quality and cheaper than Lacoste polo's.The only problem you may run into is deciding what color to get. Check out Salmoncove.com to view more of their apparel and where you can find the brand at store nearest you.

Madame MO

I wanted to spotlight a designer I fell in love with at Shecky's Girls' Night Out. Madame MO's creations are exquisite, unique, vibrant and of course chic. The dresses in her collection were out of the box. I would not be able to find this style any where else. Madame MO's collection reminds me of a fun and festive garden tea party. The designs and colors in each garment are gorgeous. I just love love love her work! Unfortunately my pictures don't do the clothing any justice. You have to see them in person...

Madame MO is currently located at EGDE*nyNOHO, 65 Bleeker Street. She is hoping to open her own boutique in the future. I will keep you posted because this is not the last you will hear of Madame MO.

SHECKY'S Girls' Night Out

Last night the girls and I attended SHECKY'S Girls' Night Out. It was quite the night out. We were right there when the doors opened and stayed until the doors closed. I have been attending Shecky's G.N.O. for the past two years, however this has been the best one yet! Was it because the tickets were 2 for the price of 1? Or was it the goodie bag filled with a $100 worth of goods? Or was it the fabulous group of ladies that attended? Hmmm...

Vendors included Dove, ClubGetaway, Borba, Ninentdo DS, Conair and 100 emerging designers. Unlimited supply of delicious cocktails from Little Black Dress, Chambord and Bud Light were at our disposal.

Bud Light held a beer tasting with their different types of ales for this season and what food choices should accompany them. Move over wine tastings, beer tastings are starting to make their way onto the scene. I am a fan of Bud Light's Wild Berry served with Raspberry Cheese...it's to die for! Other beers that we sampled were paired with dark chocolate, cantaloupe and brie cheese. Who knew pairing the right food with the right beer would make such a difference?

Chambord served complimentary french martinis and manicures. After my manicure I was given an OPI nail polish named Chambord French-tini.

Conair offered hair straightening services using their new iconic steam straightener, INFINTI Nano Silver. Thank goodness because my hair was in dyer need of it!

As a loyal Shecky's fan, I highly recommend you round up the girls and attend a Girls' Night Out in your city. Check out Shecky's.com for dates. Girls' Night Out happens every few months, so don't get upset if you missed out this time around!

L'oreal HiP Line

I decided not to be such a MAC snob and try something different. Browsing around CVS, L'oreal's HiP makeup line caught my eye. Recently, I tried the HiP Concentrated Shadow Duo in Charisma. VERDICT...loved it! It gives your eye that pop you are looking for. This shadow definitely gets my approval.

I have been using there Shine Struck Liquid Lipcolor in Harmless. LOVE IT! I use it as a lipcolor for during the day. The color makes a statement without being overbearing.

An Appreciation for Flats

I am dedicating today's post to FLAT SANDALS. Yesterday my friend, Katie and I were talking about how much we appreciate flats being the latest craze. Not only are there a variety of chic flat sandals to choose from this season, they are also convenient for our lifestyles!

Katie enjoys her flats being that she is a woman of height and because they are comfortable to wear to work. I personally enjoy flats because they allow me to romp around the city in comfort looking chic - as if I was wearing a killer pair of heels.

Below are our favorite flats for this season. I am loving the "Tribal Curry" pair on the left from Nine West. These are available at Zappos.com in a variety of colors. Katie highly recommends the "Thea" sandal by Xhilaration available at Target.com

A GREEN Tip

From David Bach's Go Green, Live Rich...

SAVE $500 a year by breaking a bottle-a-day water habit.
RUN 100,000 cars on the oil saved if bottled water were history!
PLUS, every year Americans drink more than 100 billion cups of coffee. Of these, 14.4 billion are served in disposable paper cups. Those paper cups contain a plastic lining made from a petrochemical that would produce enough energy to heat 8,300 homes a year.

COME ON PEOPLE, let's get with it! Crumbs Bakery in New York offers a discount to customers who bring in their own coffee mugs instead of using paper cups. Check your local coffee stop to see if they offer an incentive. If they don't, just think about the 8,300 homes we could be fueling...one of them could be yours.

Billion Dollar Babes

There's nothing I love more than starting off my summer with a designer sale. Billion Dollar Babes sponsored a private sale at Tommy Hilfiger in Soho. Hilfiger's spring/summer collection makes me want to pack my weekend bag and head straight to the Hamptons. Along with the black and white staples, the line is complete with fun, fresh and clean prints.

Nothing says summer more than this little yellow dress with the floppy straw hat I adore.

Of course, I came across a gorgeous trench coat - which happens to be all ready marked down from $400 to $259. I am in need of a trench coat and the fact that I would be receiving an additional 20% off was looking good. Come on, it is a wardrobe staple. I am one for QUALITY instead of quantity so I want to invest in a trench I will have forever. Schenelle is modeling the trench coat I invested in.

Oh, it gets better...with my purchase I received a Tommy Hilfiger tote filled with goodies. The sales representatives at Hilfiger claim the trench coat and bag are "Off The Runway". Runway or not, I am completely satisfied with my purchase today!

Yves Saint Laurent 1936-2008

On Monday, June 2nd, legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent passed away at the age of 71 in his Paris home. Sources say he died following a long term illness.

A huge figure of 20th century fashion, Saint Laurent was widely considered the last of a generation that included Christian Dior and Coco Chanel and made Paris the fashion capital of the world. He first emerged as a promising designer at the age of 17, winning first prize in a contest sponsored by the International Wool Secretariat for a cocktail dress design. From the first YSL tuxedo and his trim pantsuits to see-through blouses, safari jackets and glamorous gowns, Saint Laurent created instant classics that remain stylish decades later. Life Magazine hailed his first line under his own label as "the best collection of suits since Chanel."

You can read more about his life in Beautiful Fall, which I plan on reading myself. It's one of the many books on my summer reading list. Along with being outrageously entertaining, I hear it's a great read for those who love fashion and a tribute to fashion icons YSL and Lagerfeld.

Here are a few piece from YSL's 2008 collection...

On another note - with rehearsals and recitals, class picnics and other end-of-the-year business going on I will be M.I.A. until next week. Take this time to catch up on any posts you haven't read(wink, wink). Have no fear, I will have lots to report next week! xo
